I do feel between Estonia, Poland, Singapore and the Scandic countries... there's a wealth of insights for how countries can truly 'digitise' their infrastructure and citizen services... after which there's a heap of challenges and hard choices to work through.

Thanks Joel. We actually had a presentation from Anna during the trip (and from Linnar Viik who is good value). There are a lot of lessons to be learned but as you say would be very difficult to move this forward in the UK. I was not a believer in national digital IDs when I went to Estonia but they convinced me it is the way forward. A good starting point would be to build this in the NHS

I know I was skeptical before my time in Sweden. But then you see how much simpler and straightforward it makes most things (once you have it), from tax, to banking, to utilities to healthcare and even wellness.

Agreed - and the basis of the system is safe and secure so the privacy threat is largely an illusion. The Estonians talk about saving every citizen 2 weeks every year as a result of their digital setup - not sure if there is an equivalent figure in Sweden?
